Strengths

  • Smooth ball handler who can change speeds and directions impressively. Creates space to get to his pull-up. Has step back and pull back moves. Great footwork.

Areas to Improve

  • Can stand to play with more toughness and consistency on the defensive end of the floor. Has grown and improved his frame but has a negative wingspan (6-4), which limits his versatility on that end of the floor.

Tre Mann is a super smooth player, with an inherent ability to get open and try to put the ball in the basket. He’s had a growth spurt recently, vaulting him into draft conversations. At the very least, I expect him to be able to knock down the three ball at the NBA level, giving him an instant role. Super slippery, can’t really pass at a high enough level for the PG or play defense. One trick pony at this point, but its a dang good trick.

Comparison: Devin Harris, Jose Calderon

Ceiling: Caris Levert with + playmaking

Floor: Shamet with less quickness across the perimeter and screens

Tre Mann has a sweet jump shot and great shot creating for a 6-5 lead guard, which are two of the most important skills in today''s NBA. He might not have the best defense and isn''t a No. 1 passer, but if he goes to a team like the defensive-minded Knicks he can become a better defensive player and can still pass the ball, fitting an off-ball role. He has length but needs to add to his frame, something I''m more than confident he''ll do. He's got a soft touch on his floater and can really score from all three levels as well. Projected draft range: 15-25

Offense

  • Major improvements in all areas of his game from year 1 to 2.

  • Shooting splits hugely improved 40% from 3 & 83% FT.

  • Fair upside in all areas of his game.

  • Excellent P&R ball handler. Just terrific decision making.

  • Improving passer with upside to create a big plus.

  • Major shiftiness, creates separation at will.

  • One of the best off-dribble jump shooters in the class. 40.2% off-dribble.

  • Good lob thrower.

  • Great balance overall on this side of the ball.

  • Had the ball in his hands a lot, needs to show his C&S consistency early.

  • As an initiator his decision making still a work in progress.

  • Not great athleticism.

Defense

  • Good rebounder for his size.

  • Ok on closeouts, but lacks the length to consistently effect shooters.

  • Good coming off screens and dealing with P&R ballhandlers.

  • Reason to believe he can handle his lead guard assignments with competence down the road.

Swing Factors

  • Defense - Can he prove to be a competent, average on ball defender and not a liabilty?

  • Initiation Skills - Is there more in the way of P&R initiator, playmaking? Or are we looking at a microwave scorer?

Role

  • A scoring lead guard who can create separation and get his own shot at will.

  • LOW: Struggling with shot consistency, initiation skills, and defensive footwork Mann serves as an end of the rotation heat check scorer.

  • HIGH: Mann quickly proves he's a shooting threat who can competently defend lead guards. He progresses his playmaking skills and thrives in P&R quickly securing a role as a building anchor in an organization, eventually becoming a starter.

Tier 7 Floor - low-end rotation player Bullseye - productive combo guard, key piece of rotation or starter Ceiling - secondary playmaker, secondary scorer, high level defender, key starter

Combo guard, but not much of a playmaker. Still a good shooter and has a very solid handle. Great rebounder and projects to be a solid defender.

Comparsions: Jordan Poole, Devin Harris, Delon Wright

Mann is a better than his brother Terrance and grew 2 more inches and gained 19 pounds in his freshman and sophomore season. He has the dribbling package and pull-up jumper to trick defenders.

Tre Mann can score WELL, and will be able to shoot well as well. He has good height and has good potential playmaking and rebounding for a point guard.

At worse, he will be able to shoot the ball, ad be a great shooter who can guard 2 positions but below average and at best then I'd say Caris Levert with a 3.

Positives

-One of the shiftiest players in the draft, consistently creates space with his hip mobility and handle, stepbacks and stopping on a dime are elite, real late-clock option, kemba-lite potential here, one of the best shot creating prospects

-Potential to be a solid scorer in the paint, crafty and shows good touch, loves the scoop shot and uses angles well, has a great floater as a counter through traffic or off one or two feet (46% on floaters), scores well in the PnR, has good pace, sneaks it, takes re-screens, high potential here

-Showed playmaking upside in the PnR and when drawing help in the paint, would benefit bigly from having a good lob threat in the NBA, especially effective dumping off to bigs in the paint

-A great shooter, shot 40% from despite a majority of them coming off the dribble where he is also amazing, has an extremely deep range and you can not go under the screen at all against him, good spot-up potential, solid mechanics, 83% from the line, very projectable shooter in the league on and off the ball

Negatives

-Needs to be more consistent as a finisher at the rim (~53%), isn't the most explosive, had moments where he took shots harder than needed, weight is an issue but his touch and flashes suggest he should become a competent finisher

-Doesn't have a great first step, leading to some wide drives and fading runners, can't easily blow-by bigs on switches, more of a jumper-reliant player

-Needs to improve as a playmaker and decision maker, had some struggles in traffic where he got stuck in no man's land or turned it over into help, put himself into really tough situations leading to turnovers, had some troubles against traps, should work on his PnR reads, probably not qualified to be a lead guard in the NBA

-Will likely be a negative defender in the league, his weight, size and slightly negative wingspan limit his ceiling there, needs to be a bit more consistent with his footwork, not very physical, did have some solid moments of staying attached to his man and using his chest

Likely range: 12-25

Quick witted and athletic. At times he can hold on to the ball to long. He is fast and quick and can jump. Tre Mann has pretty good shooting ability too, although he could improve in that area in consistency some. He is a solid defender. He would be a better fit if he learned how to play off ball more. Has the size and defensive ability to play against NBA point Gs. Tre Mann and Florida made it to the round of 32 in the big dance before getting beat by cinderella Oral Roberts.

Tre has scoring potential to be a starter as a combo or 2 guard that can develop into a 20+ per game kind of player in the NBA with the right situation.
