This dude screams Desmond Bane, and for that reason he will probably climb up my board. He will immediately be able to hit shots and cut and play defense. Some contender will get him and he will be legit and make people think “how did he fall?” Watch his rise in the coming weeks. His defense is Haliburton like; not elite on ball but his offball and team defense is super impressive. Gonna land on a contender and make an impact

My philosophy is big on 3 and d guys, but especially those that can shoot pass drive when they get the ball. The suns built their team with guys who make good decisions like that.

Comparison: Desmond Bane

Ceiling: Gary Trent Jr. +

Floor: Grayson Allen

I really like Duarte''s role player potential. As a 6-6 swingman he shot the ball lights out at Oregon on impressive two point shooting, three point shooting, and free throws while locking down defensively. While he''s own of the oldest prospects in this draft, he should be ready to contribute to a winning team immediately and impact winning basketball. Also has some moves to score off the dribble, such as his pull up (where he has terrific footwork) and his stepback. Limited upside is why I have him at 28th but he has proved enough to at least be a first round prospect because shooters are valuable in today's game.

Projected draft range: 20-30

6''6 with a 6''7 wingspan. Shooting and straight line drives. Has a nice looking NBA ready shooting stroke. Decent finishing inside 7/8 feet. Often reads passes and gets his hands in the lanes for easy fast break dunks. Currently averaging 2.9 STL/40 with 1.3 BLK. Likes to pull up off the dribble. Looks for chase down blocks. Doesn''t speak much english - will be interesting how this plays out in the NBA. Will be 24 when the draft takes place. How much of his age factors into his defensive, physical presence in NCAA games? Overall he is a highly appealing mid-1st because he''s absolutely NBA ready and won''t be needing to add much to what he can already do. An ideal 3 & D wing for today''s NBA.

Comparisons: Issac Okoro, Dejonte Murray, Avery Bradley

As a 3&D guard and being the oldest player in the draft at 23 and born in Canada, Chris has the defense of Avery Bradley and 3-pointer of Dejonte.

Positives

-Great 3 point shooter (42% on 5.5 attempts), absolutely lethal shooter off the catch, spotting up or on the move where he showed great upside, very nice shooter off the dribble, real pull-up threat, likes the stepback and can hit shorter jumpers attacking closeouts, mechanics look good and are consistent

-Pretty solid finisher at the basket, a bit right hand dominant but mostly polished, finishes well on cuts and in transition

-Pretty good decision maker, rarely makes the wrong read, natural ball mover, his playmaking translates as a PnR ball handler where he has potential to run it for a few possessions a game, not only a scoring threat

-Impactful off-ball defender, played passing lanes really well, impressive shot blocker for someone his size and wingspan, can be an impactful rim protector for his position, makes the right rotation

-Underrated vertical athlete, got up for some eye opening dunks and blocks, not bad in traffic

Negatives

-Struggles blowing by his defender, his handle though solid, isn't too advanced, not great at attacking mismatches, probably not a secondary/tertiary self-creator at the next level, also struggles with pass accuracy which limits higher usage in the PnR at the next level

-Bit slow laterally, probably will have some struggles guarding faster players at the POA, needs to work on his closeouts, only a slightly positive wingspan, probably not gonna be very switchable in the league, solid defensive IQ and can stay solid, not a huge issue

-Should improve his finishing at the rim a bit, add more of a left hand and convert some tougher looks into free throws

-24 before he plays his first game, really good player but his ultimate ceiling and upside might not be there, shouldn't expect a star out of him

Likely range 15-25

A strong shooter and on ball defender who could stick in the league for a long time, especially if he makes progress as a playmaker.

PLUSES

Elite spot-up shooter who can score off movement using screens, handoffs, and relocations.

He's not a dynamic shot creator, but he is a knockdown shooter off the bounce, able to punish defenders for going under screens or pull up and side-step defenders off spot-up situations.

Ambidextrous finisher who has the body control to bend and angle himself to score.

A hustler who goes out of his way to make plays on the ball, and a willing rebounder for his position.

Active and aware in the passing lanes as an off-ball defender. He makes reads like a defensive back and creates a ton of steals and deflections.

Good defensive fundamentals. He stays in his stance and plays hard. He needs to improve his lateral movement, but the tools are there.

MINUSES

Subpar playmaker at this stage of his career. He’s a willing passer but he’s inaccurate, especially off the dribble in pick-and-roll situations.

Likely not a very switchable defender, as he’s not quick enough to handle speedy guards or big enough for larger, stronger forwards.

He’ll be 24 by draft night.

Player Comp= Danny Green, Rip Hamilton

Chris Duarte has been an absolute stud in his senior year for the Oregon Ducks. In my opinion, Duarte is just a pure scorer that is averaging 17 PPG efficiently this season. An absurd 53% from the field and about 43% from three in 25 games this season. Oh and not to mention he is a lock-down perimeter defender and averaging 2.4 steals per game. If Duarte can just turn into a slightly better passer I believe that he can be a star at the next level.
