Steward is a young point guard with a lot of fire. He plays up in your face in point of attack defense, and has super quick hands. He uses these quick hands to have a solid crossover on the other end as well. He isn’t a true point guard, which really limits him in that small 6’2 frame. His shot is fine and developing, but he has to be an all time level offensive player to make it work at the 2 when he’s that small (ie donovan mitchell). tough to see that being the case.

DJ Steward doesn''t have terrific size for a point guard and can be reluctant to take threes. Yikes. But he''s z nice driver with excellent handles and a guy who can score well and facilitate. I''m not concerned about the sizes because he''s not bad defensively. Don''t be surprised if he''s selected in this year''s draft, because the driving and finishing skills at his size are elite. Still, the fact he was hesitant to take threes during combine scrimmages lowers his draft stock.

6''2 with a 6''1 wingspan. Undersized, aggressive rebounder for his size. Decent looking shooting stroke. 42/30/83- suggests he will be able to shoot 3''s capably at the next level. Right now he''s shooting 7 3pa/40. STLs 1.6/40 and BLK 1/40 suggest an active defender. Looks like an average passer at the moment, but doesn''t turn the ball over very frequently. Floaters and push shots?

DJ Steward is just getting into the swing of things for Duke. It took this prospect a while to get going, and although he has finally caught some pace to the game, he hasn''t made Duke any better, or as good as they should be. He is a younger prospect and can still rise in this draft, but in order for that to happen, he will need a little more playing time.
