Big Board Rankings

Strengths

  • "Great size for a lead guard at 6-5. Strong frame. Has the tools to defend either guard spot when fully motivated. Can change speeds and directions with the ball. Fairly fluid athlete who can use his size to overpower smaller guards."

  • "Playmaking is his best skill. He can whip passes off the dribble with accuracy and hit cutters or rollers with precision."

  • "Creative pick-and-roll facilitator. Despite his weak right hand

  • he gets where he wants and knows how to manipulate defenses to create passing angles and openings to score."

  • "Fluid ball handler with the size to outmuscle smaller guards."

  • "Excellent touch with his left hand finishing difficult floaters and runners

  • often after initiating contact."

  • "Displays major potential as an off-the-dribble 3-point shooter with Hardenesque moves. Added a stepback and sidestep 3 to his arsenal and uses hesitations to get into pull-ups."

  • "His catch-and-shoot shooting numbers are concerning

  • but he has smooth form

  • a soft touch inside

  • and a free throw percentage over 80—all of which suggest he’ll figure it out."

  • "Tall

  • with a strong frame and long arms

  • making him a projectably versatile defender against guards and wings."

  • "Active off-ball menace who could develop into a disruptive defensive helper."

  • "Possesses great court vision and has passing skills to match it"

  • "Crafty with the ball in his hands and able to create off the dribble

  • both for himself and for teammates"

  • "Developing tool in his arsenal: a James Harden-like stepback move that''s near-impossible to defend"

  • "Smooth

  • fluid left-handed release with great touch from deep and in the lane

  • at the free throw line and on floaters"

  • "Good positional size"

  • "Can read the game at a high level in an instant

  • making him a threat to thrive in the modern

  • pick-and-roll heavy NBA"

Areas to Improve

  • "Average athletically both in terms of burst and vertical explosion. Struggles with aggressive ball pressure. Turned the ball over on 25% of his possessions. Can change speeds and directions but doesn''t quite have the shiftiness to beat rangy defenders off the dribble consistently. Will have to become a more consistent shooter to combat that. Doesn''t get to the free throw line at a high rate."

  • "Left-hand dominant: He might as well tie his right hand behind his back considering how little he uses it—there are some passes he can’t make since he relies on his left hand so much."

  • "Limited athlete who lacks burst and bounce

  • which hinders his finishing ability

  • especially since he rarely uses his right hand."

  • "Lacks an advanced handle. Picks up his dribble too often

  • which gets him into trouble. He’s shifty but doesn’t create a ton of separation and doesn’t string together advanced moves to break down defenses."

  • "Experiences lapses on defense

  • missing rotations and falling out of his on-ball stance."

  • "He needs to be more vocal as a lead guard to take better command of the team."

  • "Average athlete with no real burst to blow by defenders"

  • "Below average 3-point shooter; improved in EuroCup play

  • but larger sample suggests it could be a swing skill"

  • "Ambidexterity remains a work in progress; largely lefty dominant s a dribbler

  • passer and finisher"

NBA COMPARISON - Spencer Dinwiddie.

Killian Hayes can improve his decision making, play smarter, and be more athletic. However, he is one of the most elite playmaking-shot creators in the draft.

Floor: Spencer Dinwiddie: Likely not as good of a scorer but has a similar skill set and size. Doesn''t fully develop as a shooter and never becomes more than just average. A good passer and defender but nothing special. Overall, just a solid starting PG in his prime.

Likely Peak: D''Angelo Russell/Goran Dragic: A crafty finisher relying on a variety of dribble moves and flashy layups/floaters. A great passer who is particularly effective in the pick and roll. A good shooter who can score off the dribble, but not elite. A borderline all-star in his prime.

Ceiling: Manu Ginobili/lesser James Harden: A very high-iq player that relies on his intelligence and patience to make the smart play. Masters Harden''s step-back and Ginobili''s euro-step, giving him a diverse set of dribble moves. Not as good of a shooter or scorer as Harden, but has similar moves. A crafty playmaker, and good defender thanks ti his IQ and effort. An star player with borderline all-NBA and all-defensive potential.

Shiftiness. MAJOR OFFENSIVE FEEL & IQ. Seems to have ELITE potential as a passer. May be the next textbook example of a cerebral player. 45/39/91 Euro league 10 games. Needs to get to the cup more. Good on ball defender. Liable to get trapped. Don''t know that he will be able to beat everybody off the dribble. Beautiful stroke, shot off the dribble looks to be a positive. Fits: Start as a distributor, 3rd option - Go from there. All Star Caliber Ceiling. Polished for his age.

Maybe the most complete guard in this draft, with experience against senior players. If his work ethic and competitiveness are at the same level of his abilities, he could become the best player on this draft.

ATL get Hayes with their own pick at 6. Great prospect that projects as a combo guard with good size and promising shooting. Killian could either be the backup to Trae and be the sparkplug off of the bench or even start at the SG alongside him, pushing Edwards to the 3

Nba Conparrison:Lou Williams/Spencer Dinwiddie Killian hayes is a boom or bust prosoect. He has the physical tools to be an abive average guard but doesnt try all the time. He has three level scoring potential while being a crafty playmaker. Hes is does not play that will off ball and has a turnover problem, turning the ball over on 25% of his possessions meaning he will turn the ball over every 4 times the ball is in his hands. He has instant impact on the floor while having great potential. Possibly could become the next harden with is scoring and playmaki

Trade

the Magic recive
Andrew Wiggings
2020 2nd overall Pick

the Warriors recive
Nikola Vucevic
Evan Fournier (Player Option)
2020 15th overall Pick

The Warriors want to be back to contending in the upcoming season and this trade helps them out. They get an All-Star Center, who can shoot, and add more depth in the form of Evan Fournier.

The Magic are stuck and need to shake up their roster. In this trade they would get Wiggings, wo could still become an All-Star one day, and the second Pick. And I think they would select Killian Hayes to play alongside Fultz at the 2-Guard position, as he has the size and might be an interesring prospect.
