The Pistons need immediate talent that lifts them from the hole they're in. When you risk your franchise player (Cade) asking to be traded, losing young talent is the bullet you have to bite to obtain the help needed. When you're a sports owner, you have to think about how winning games generates ticket sales at home. Trading Ausar might not be the road to a championship, but for this team, a respectable mediocrity should be the goal.

Now for the Blazers perspective. We must cut one of our three guards: Shaedon Sharpe, Scoot Henderson, or Anfernee Simons. This is because of size. We cannot repeat the Dame and CJ experiment. Is it premature to decide on Scoot over Ant being our point guard of the future? Absolutely. But does Ant have more trade value at this current moment in time? It seems that way, considering that teams with talent look for players who can help them compete immediately.

Maybe Scoot could be paired with Brogdon to make a magical trade happen with some mystery team out there, but for now, I see this trade with the Pistons to be a very unique opportunity that may not come again. Especially if Ausar starts getting really special, and in their eyes, untouchable.
