Herb jones, essentially a jumbo matisse thybulle, is already a great defender in only a few NBA games. On a great contract and aligning with a huge need of the Celtics right now, he would be a great trade candidate. Moving Richardson and grant provides the pelicans with another two way wing and a solid small ball 5 option who has done a great job from beyond the arc this year. Herb assumes grant's role as backup 4/5 with great feel for the game, tertiary playmaking ability, and off ball acumen for cutting and putting himself in the right position for lobs and dump-offs. This also puts the Celtics under the tax and creates another trade exception that can be used to put the Cs into true contention either at the deadline or next offseason. This deal also clears up a rotational spot for nesmith, who has gotten lost in the wing depth the Celtics have but who should absolutely not be losing minutes to josh Richardson.
