SUCCESS

Why the Timberwolves do this: They improve in the two areas they need most; backup PG and bench shooting. They give up Kyle Anderson who doesn't fit the system, Shake Milton who has been poor this season, a decent role player in Troy Brown who is unlikely to touch the floor in the playoffs and a 2nd rnd pick. The Timberwolves turnover the ball too much and Schroder and Gordon will help that. Schroder will likely become the Timberwolves main PG as Conley will cost too much. Eric Gordon adds shooting and scoring off the bench.

Why the Suns do this: The Suns have a good starting 5 but have no valuable role players and get slaughtered in the minutes the starters sit. Their only piece to trade is Grayson Allen who is having the best year of his career. They trade him and a 35 year old Eric Gordon in order to get 3 valuable role players who can give them decent minutes off the bench. I would expect Anderson to sign to a similar $20m/2 year deal in the offseason.

Why the Nets do this: It has been said that Allen is a target for them. He's having a great year and he fits in to the Nets system well. He's shooting the ball better than he ever has and is playing above-average defence. They also take a chance on Shake Milton who has been poor for the Timberwolves this season but was very highly rated in Philly. They lose a nice young guy in Day'Ron Sharpe however he will always get restricted minutes playing behind a center like Nic Claxton. They also lose a role player in Dennis Smith Jr.

Why the Raptors do this: It looks likely Schroder will be traded before the deadline due to the Immanuel Quickley trade. The Raptors need to free up some cap space to prepare for IQ $125/5 extension. A long with freeing up cap space they receive a good young centre and 3 second round picks, with the Timberwolves 2nd looking to be very early in the first round.
