Dallas is in a disastrous position and I wouldn't be surprised if Luka asked to leave. If Luka leaves, Cuban can sell the franchise because you can't sell the fans the story that you didn't manage to build a competitive team with a superstar who is a top 3 player in the league and a generational talent that is born once in 10 years. In this trade, I can only see how Cuban would be able to sell the fans the story of bringing in another (potential) superstar player.
Zion is without a doubt that, but we all know that injuries have already destroyed his career. But, there is still hope that Zion, if he stays healthy, will be an all-star player around whom you can build a team. Along with Zion, the Mavs would get 2 excellent talents that the Pels took the last couple of years as lottery picks, great defensive players who still have a lot of room for improvement (especially Daniels, who is not even 20 years old).
3 1st, which are two 2027, 2029 unp could be a decent deal for a player like Doncic. Resign Irving, give him money and try to build around him & Zion. Develop young players like Hardy, Daniels & Murphey + you have decent future draft capital, not that bad.
On the other hand, there is not too much talk about NOP. Doncic, CJ, Ingram, Jones, Valanciunas is a contender team in the west.
