In the draft the Knicks traded their 11th pick to get picks that can be valuable in next year's draft. Doing a deal with the Spurs to send DeJounte Murray and Doug McDermott's expring for Julius Randle, Immanuel Quickley, Evan Fournier, and picks from Detroit, Knicks, and Mavs. This is huge for the Knicks so they can free up cap space to be suitors to sign Ayton with a max contract and RJ Barrett with an extension. Also trading Murray is also huge so he can sign next year a max extension if he Knicks decides to give him the bag.
