The spurs have no point guard that is good enough to bring out the true potential of Wemby. This trade allows them to get a young point guard for a very low price given his production. Markelle Fultz is a good NBA point guard when healthy, and has proven to be a good playmaker and scorer when needed. As he’s on an expiring deal, his asking price is low. This move is low risk as they can simply opt to not offer him another contract if it doesn’t work out.

The Fultz/Anthony/Suggs debate has seemingly come to an end after a breakout season for Suggs and a 6moty campaign from Anthony, which has left Fultz as the odd man out. His fit on the team is questionable and this trade allows them to get some assets in return for his expiring contract. Cedi Osman provides some nice forward depth off the bench, and the two second round picks are a nice grab as well. Doug McDermott is still an effective bench forward who can provide versatility to the second unit. For an expiring contract, this would be a good grab for the magic.
