Trade Breakdown

TOR: Kyle Lowry, Pat Connaughton, Nikola Jovic, AJ Green, 2024 POR SRP, 2027 MIL SRP, 2027 MIA FRP

MIA: Bruce Brown

MIL: Dennis Schroeder

MIL: This move is pretty risky for Milwaukee, but I think it would be perfect for them. Back-court defense is one of the worst parts of the Bucks team and Schroeder is an immediate and somewhat cheap fix for that. Of course, both of these SRPs have the potential to be high SRPs, but the Bucks are desperate to win now. But, at the moment I have a hard time even putting them above the 76ers or Heat, let alone the Celtics. Connaughton has not been getting much minutes this year with Milwaukee. He could be a sniper off the bench for another team, but he's not what the Bucks need right now. Schroeder, for the Bucks should also be a good backup PG when Damian Lillard is off the court. This season, he has been averaging 6.9 APG, which is very solid even though he's had to play a lot of minutes to get to there. Having Giannis to pass to will only help that. This is still quite a risk by the Bucks, but this move can be the move that gets them through the Eastern Conference in the playoffs. Right now, any guard can cook them. This should hopefully change that. Even if it doesn't change that too much, at the very least it gives them some guard depth.

TOR: Schroeder simply does not fit the timeline of Toronto's rebuild and will just be taking minutes that other players will need to develop properly. The potential of the two SRPs are great, making this very hard to decline for the Raptors. As for the Brown trade, Lowry will be a great mentor to Scottie Barnes who he has never got to play with yet (Lowry left Toronto just as Scottie Barnes arrived). Jovic can be a key part of their future, but it's more viable to have him as a good depth piece for their future. As for the 2027 MIA FRP, I think Miami's young core will still be doing good during that time, so it won't be that much of a use for Toronto. But, this trade would make the overall return for Pascal Siakam to be Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis Jr, Kyle Lowry, Nikola Jovic, and 4 FRPs. That's a really nice return even though some of the picks and assets don't have too much value. Keeping Bruce Brown would not be a great choice because his value is very high at the moment and it is better to sell high rather than wait until his value drops. Toronto will have to wait for the development of their young core, be aggressive in the 2024 NBA Draft, and then potentially think about using the draft picks acquired in the Siakam trade to make a win-now move in the future. The future is bright with Scottie in town.

MIA: Miami has recently been reportedly interested in moving off of Kyle Lowry. Today, it was reported that they were interested in Bruce Brown. Bruce Brown is the type of selfless player that would be the perfect fit in Miami. The price for him is a bit steep, but it will be necessary with the high interest among other teams across the league. Brown's two-way impact was key for the Nuggets during their championship run. It's the small trades for role players that bring championships to cities. The Heat have not been able to go over the hump for the last few years, they still need to make a move that takes them over the hump. Pat Riley probably has a different idea on what it might be, but I'm confident that acquiring Bruce Brown will really boost their team. Riley might not want to trade the 2027 FRP, but I am confident that a post-Butler Miami team will be able to be solid with a young core built around Adebayo and Herro. This move is a gamble, which Riley usually doesn't take, but it's the move that he needs to make.
