why Atlanta does it:
Trae Young has worn out his welcome in Atlanta. they reset with a KAT and DeJounte pairing. KAT gives the team a new look and they find another home for Capela. this team has a lot of different lineup options and maybe they can move another piece or two (Okongwu, Griffin, Conley expiring, Hunter, Bogdanovic or even Nowell) to find an upgrade that makes them a real contender.

why Minnesota does it:
Finch was not able to make KAT and Gobert in the short time KAT was healthy. they need a strong, quick pivot into this being Ant’s team.

they need to work on their depth but Trae and Ant give them one of the most dynamic scoring back courts in NBA memory. McDaniels and Gobert give them maybe the most elite pair of rim defenders in the league. the only question is, is can this really be Ants team with Trae on it? can Trae develop into a good team basketball player? I doubt it but this is a fun trade anyway.
this is an elite starting 5 but lacks depth and has obvious questions about how it works. but I think both KAT and Trae could be on the move this off season and this isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
