WHY MAGIC DO IT:
Instead of getting washed Klay or inconsistent, one dimensional Buddy Hield, they get for a well protected first a very good shooter and a good passer with CJ.
WHY PHILA DO IT:
Their plan for this summer is PG13, but if they can't get him (or another star) is it worth rebuilding around Maxey+Embiid and role players?
Maxey + Zion would be an exciting duo. Then 4 firsts (remember the PHX one in the title?) to add to the Clippers ones. They now have the firsts to trade for the 3rd star at the deadline/next summer.
I know Zion is often injured, but Embiid has the same problem.
WHY PELICANS DO IT:
Zion and Ingram don't look like a good fit, how about splitting them for a better player? And no more concerns about Zion's health.
Starting 5: Book, Ingram, Trey, Herb, Nurkic
Bench: Dyson, Hawkins, Naji + full MLE and 1 or 2 firsts
The starting 5 is veeery intriguing, Trey with such spacing and a good passer like Nurkic could become even more deadly from the perimeter.
If they can nail the freeagency and draft, they would be dangerous.
WHY SUNS DO IT:
If they lose 4-2 or worse I think they'll have to do something big. They have literally no future, they either win in the next 2 year or won't win for the next 10 years at the very least.
You can't trade KD because at 36 he won't get you a star unless you go older (Bron), nobody wants Beal contract...who's missing? The one with more value.
Embiid is a risk because he's never healthy, but now you have a complete big 3. They get some depth too.
Starting 5: Beal, Royce, KD, Nance, Embiid
Bench: Alvarado, Gordon, Allen, Ingles, minimum
Is this better? Yes. But if they don't win they are even more fucccked than they are right now.
