The Sixers have shown that to succeed in the playoffs, they need role players that can step up and get buckets. These moves do that.
PG: D'Angelo Russell, Cameron Payne
SG: Tyrese Maxey, Luke Kennard
SF: Alex Caruso, Kelly Oubre Jr, Tristan Da Silva
PF: Paul George, Nicolas Batum, Ricky Council IV
C: Joel Embiid, Jalen Smith
Signing PG obviously brings someone who's great in all facets of the game and is a perfect compliment to Embiid and Maxey. DLo will just get buckets, and finally give us someone who can score with volume besides Joel and Tyrese. Caruso can guard anyone in the NBA, and is a great shooter and great fit next to Embiid, and we add one of the best bench shooters in the league with Kennard. Keeping Batum keeps some of our experience (Caruso also gives experience). Finally, Jalen Smith gives some rebounding outside of Embiid, and thanks to his shooting he can play next to Embiid for big lineups. Playoff lineup of Russell-Maxey-Caruso-George-Embiid with Oubre-Kennard-Smith-Batum off the bench is a good rotation. This team has mad shooting, bucket-getters, more hustle than the current team, and just enough defense to survive (defense isn't that big of a priority when you've got the big fella locking up behind you, but having an elite guard defender like Caruso makes us lockdown) To me this is far and away the best team Embiid has had ever, and a Bona Fide championship contender even if Embiid is only at 80% in the playoffs.
