Suns

The Suns do two things in this transaction. First, they bring in the talented PF in Larry Nance Jr. Then they sign a rim protector in JaVale McGee. While the Suns missed out on Aaron Gordon, they can get a player who actually fits better into the Phoenix system in Larry Nance Jr. Nance Jr is an elite role player that defends at a very high level and provides everything you want in a modern big man. He runs the floor, has a nice shooting touch, can defend and pass. He is a nice lob-threat and can switch onto multiple positions, which he specifically well in P&R situations. Having Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges, Larry Nance Jr, and DeAndre Ayton as your starting lineup would allow the Suns to have one of the best defensive lineups in the league. Mikal and Nance Jr can both defend the 1-5 with ease and would make for a nice defensive duo.

McGee is also a perfect acquisition for the Suns. The Suns have no rim protection behind Ayton, and he would be extremely vital in the playoffs. He provides consistent energy and rim protection and would provide the exact depth the Suns need. Torrey Craig has been playing pretty well off the bench for the Suns, he has provided excellent defense and has even exploded offensively at times(He dropped 20 on 6-9 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds), so he would most definitely resign with the Suns. Garrett Temple also brings legit defense off the bench. He has the size and defensive awareness to be a positive contributor on that end of the floor, and the numbers show just that. Temple has consistently improved his team’s defense throughout his career. He can also act as a secondary ball-handler and showcase his playmaking abilities.

The Suns are a true contending team, and I truly believe they need to only make a few changes to their team. The trade and the signings are absolutely perfect for them in my opinion.

Starters: Chris Paul - Devin Booker - Mikal Bridges - Larry Nance Jr - DeAndre Ayton

Bench consists of: Jevon Carter, Garret Temple, Torrey Craig, Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, JaVale McGee

The Suns can run 11-deep.

Cavs

The Cavs trade Nance Jr and get back Saric, the young PF in Jalen Smith, a pick-swap, and two second-round picks. Nance Jr isn't exactly young anymore(28), and this trade allows the Cavs to retain a younger PF in Jalen Smith(21).
