All signs point to Donovan Mitchell being out of Cleveland. While the return may not seem slight for a player of his caliber, he is on an expiring and the Cavs will not have a ton of leverage. Miami has to do what they can to get over the hump with the Butler/Bam core. New Orleans has two stars who don't shoot threes and no center for the future.

Cavaliers

A wise man on this website once told me that "if you trade Mobley & Mitchell and don’t get at least one of the following, you’ve totally failed: a top 5 caliber player, multiple young All-Star caliber players on rookie deals, 5+ unprotected picks".

I've tried to fulfill that with this deal. Ingram, Herro, and Jaime are all young and that last one is on his rookie deal. 3 Unprotected FRPs, along with a swap, and a second seems to me to be enough of a return. LeMobley, I look forward to your feedback.

Cavs lineup

  • Garland/Jared McCain (Lakers pick from Pels should be ~14)

  • Herro/LeVert

  • Strus/Jaime

  • Ingram/Wade

  • Allen/Zach Edey (Why not LOL)

P.S. The Edey and McCain picks could be different but just some ideas.

P.P.S. I know the $$ doesn't work out exactly but lets imagine for the sake of argument that off-season trickery applies. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Heat

I know that some Heat fans think that Donovan Mitchell can be had a top-20 protected first and salary filler, but even if the Cavs do not have a TON of leverage, they don't have none of it. The deal of Herro, Jaime (I refuse to call him JJJ), a UFRP, a swap, and a second is I think very fair to capitalize on a narrowing championship window.

Heat Lineup

  • Rozier/Richardson

  • Mitchell/Martin

  • Butler/Highsmith

  • Robinson/Jovic

  • Bam/Bryant

Pelicans

Zion is an All-NBA caliber player. Ingram is AWESOME, but he is not that, at least not with another non-shooting star. I truly hope he is able to become an all-star again. The Pelicans have a glaring gap at Center. Jonas is a professional and a wonderful player, as is Nance. Unfortunately, they each have a glaring issue. Aside from neither of them being shooting threats, Nance can be bullied due to his height and JV is too slow to defend on switches which makes him a liability in the Pelicans' defensive scheme.

Mobley can alleviate the issues that each brings around. While he is not an ultra-high level three-point threat, his percentage is up this year. More importantly, he is a defensive beast. I shudder to think what a combination of Herb Jones and Evan Mobley can do to opposing teams. Mobley is big enough not to get bullied down low or on the boards, and he has the footspeed to keep up with smaller guards. With Trey Murphy replacing Ingram in the starting unit, there will be enough room for Zion to reach his peak potential.

Assuming Naji Marshall walks this off-season, Niang is a solid fit to replace him. He is by no means the same level of scorer or spark plug as Naji, but his defense is on a similar level and his shooting is a step up.

Pels Lineup

  • CJ/Jose

  • Herb/Hawkins

  • TM3/Dyson

  • Zion/Niang

  • Mobley/Nance

I hope that this deal isn't too ridiculous.
