I do think that the 76ers want him there but he clearly doesn’t so why not get easy picks and young assets for a demanding out PF that hurt his price after his playoff performance

In the trade the Spurs send away Derrick White 2nd year Devin Vassel Rookie josh primo and 3 picks for Ben Simmons and Tyrese Maxey. They move Eubanks for a 2nd for cap purposes.

For the Spurs they aren’t going rebuild and trying to contend with Ben and hope his defense can help him when he gets moved to the 4. Their idea is to hope that their young 3 in Murray Johnson and Walker make major improvements and adding a much needed 4 will make them a good playoff team.

For the 76ers they have to come to the conclusion that Ben doesn’t want to be there and they must take the most value that they can. In getting the new 3 they get a better depth with a true number 3 option of in white which will allow Harris and embid to do their thing. They won’t be as good as if they were keeping Ben but getting the picks really helps since they could move them for better assets.
