Why OKC does the deal: OKC does this deal because it gives them a pure center instead of Holmgren. When Chet first entered the league, people always criticized how he wouldn’t be able to stop centers in the nba due to the fact he is undersized and too skinny to deal with 250 pound centers, for instance this was shown when he went up against Kenneth lofton in the summer league, Kenneth was able to score over 14 point against Chet in just the post. So with the addition of Allen, chet moves to power forward, and they get much needed rebounding and rim protecting, and a center that has the correct size to be a center. And with what they give up, Lu Dort isn’t a huge price considering we are now becoming heavy on guards, so Lu Dort and a first is just enough for Allen.

Why Cleveland does the deal: Cleveland does the deal because they need a lot of perimeter defense, they have one of the worst perimeter defenses in the nba, so they win this deal in their eyes because getting Lu Dort fills that gap, even though he will be playing the small forward position. Lu Dort will also benefit from being able to get to take more shots due to the fact Cleveland is one of the best rebounding teams in the nba, which could help Lu Dort in the perspective that he’s not a good shooter. Cleveland also wins this deal in their eyes because they are getting rid of a large contract and get a 6 million decrease in their cap space they can use to sign or draft a center due to the loss of Allen, and the fact that this deal is more then there asking for in exchange for allen. And in retrospect, losing Allen isn’t all bad since he is only taking time away from Mobley, so Mobley gets more time which causes him to develop and Dort gives them perimeter defense, and getting a first on top of that sweetens the pot even more.
