MEM

Memphis acquires Julius Randle for Gorgui Dieng and Kyle Anderson. Randle's game fits very well next to Jaren Jackson Jr. as a rebounding big who can score in the paint as well as orchestrate pick and rolls with Ja Morant. His trade value is low and the Knicks are reportedly shopping Randle, but I think he is an excellent fit in Memphis at PF, and they can play Jackson Jr. at C. Even if Randle does not form a big 3 in Memphis, his rugged style of play and rebounding should help them in a tertiary role (behind Morant and JJJ) reach the playoffs and become competitive in the tough Western Conference. The Grizzlies have a bright future, and Randle is only 25, may I add.

Keep in mind Jaren Jackson Jr. will now be the Grizzlies C, with Valanciunas coming off of the bench, and if Randle performs well, may even be flipped for extra assets.

NY

New York acquires native Kyle Anderson and Gorgui Dieng. For whatever reason, the Knicks want to move Randle and really badly want to do it. Here, they get an expiring deal in Dieng and a solid wing defender in Kyle Anderson.

Is this a good trade?

The Knicks move on from Randle, and this will be a two-year experiment in Memphis, as Randle still has talent.

What are your thoughts on a Randle-JJJ frontcourt in Memphis?
