Why Mavs Do It: This isn't the big named trade that Mavs fans would want, but that's perfectly fine. Besides improving their big man depth and improving their defense, this team just flat out needs better shooters. Insert Wayne Ellington who would help improve that aspect. He would play well off of Luka, and would make the Mavs a lot more dangerous offensively. Losing Iwundu will be perfectly fine, as the organization won't have to worry about paying his 2 year fully guaranteed.

Why Pistons Do It: This team loves reclamation projects, and they could try it again with Iwundu. He won't provide much on the offensive end, but he brings a high level of intensity on the defensive end. Getting another 2nd would be good for Detroit, as they'll have another chance at the apple to draft a good rookie. This trade makes a lot of sense for a team in the start of their rebuilding process.
