It was really hard trying to find a player for the Brooklyn Nets. Their entire team is full of all stars, making it tricky to figure out who is truly -underrated-. Feels like their entire team has had their time in the national spotlight, so I had to look deeper to find the player on the Nets. Right now, that team is like a huge wall, but all of the bricks haven't been connected. There is no glue or cement. That may be enough, but cement would certainly help. That is where Bruce Brown comes in

Bruce Brown Jr. played his college ball at the University of Miami, before being drafted onto the Detroit Pistons. He middled in the rotation with no clear role, until the Brooklyn Nets traded a disappointing pick for him, hoping that he would be the cement that they needed.

The first thing that you notice when watching Bruce Brown is his defense. He loves to use his 6'4 200 pound frame (although he looks a lot heavier) to bully smaller guards on the perimeter. His 6'9 wingspan doesn't hurt either. However, his best skill on defense isn't his on-ball harassment necessarily. His best skill on the defensive end of the ball is his versatility. He is uber switchable, and can guard 1-5. Yes, I said 5. He has played as the Nets small ball center multiple times this year, and to great affect. Against the Golden State Warriors while Brown was playing at center, he put up a cool 18 points and 7 rebounds. His stocky frame, long arms, and quick reflexes make him a very versatile defender, exactly what the Nets need.

His offense is also not to be scoffed at. His Kyle Lowry Esque athleticism makes him a great finisher. As a guard, that field goal percentage over 50 and a true shooting percentage over 59 is very impressive. He uses his large build to bounce perimeter defenders off of him as he drives to the paint, and can easily absorb contact or use his wingspan and bounce to slip around big defenders.

Bruce Brown doesn't always do the flashy things. He can't wiggle like Harden, handle like Kyrie, or rise up like Durant. He can't even use the midrange like Aldridge or move around screens like Harris. However, he does everything that makes wins happen. He is a super versatile defender, and a determined slasher. That is exactly what the Nets need, and he doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves in this team full of all stars. That makes Bruce Brown Jr. a very underrated player.
