I was having a really hard time trying to figure out who to do for the Celtics. Most of their players feel very properly rated by the general masses. Kemba is Kemba, people accept that. Marcus Smart is important, Jaylen Brown has taken a huge jump, and Tatum is a bucket. Rob is an up and comer and everyone knows that. It's tougher to do it for the larger market teams. Then I remembered; the Celtics made some trades! And the answer to me became abundantly clear

Mo Wagner went to the University of Michigan before being drafted and spending the first year of his career on the L.A Lakers. He was then traded to make room for Davis, and spent the next few years on the Wizards. Just recently, he was moved to the Bulls and subsequently the Celtics. I hope, now that he is on a winning team and in a bigger market with a role (hopefully) he will develop into a great player and be universally respected, as he should be now.

Mo's best skill is his mind games. Something about him makes opponents feel a deep hatred for the guy. His face is very punchable and he uses this to his advantage. If you are confused, think about the Bad Boy Pistons. Some of them weren't the most skilled players in the world, however they played their role and were an instigator, an enforcer. That is a large part of Mo's role. He gets in the heads of others and messes around. Remember Giannis wanting to fight him earlier? I think if Mo reaches his potential he is a Bill Laimbeer type.

His best basketball skill is his defense. He is a big body with some really nice basketball iq who uses these gifts very well. He knows where to be on defense and fights against his athletic limitations with elite hustle and a bit of trash talk. He can switch well enough, and I expect him to be used when the Celtics are playing better bigs in the playoffs and they need a large body to throw at them (sixers, bucks, pacers, etc).

He is also a very servicable scorer. This year his shooting hasn't been up to par, but he is a legitamate stretch 5. His ability to either roll with his sheer size or take a step out and hit a three or a mid range is tantalizing for any team. His shot form is really pretty, and a stretch 5 with legitimate size is a hot commodity for any organization.

However teams aren't going to get Mo because of his scoring. He is a defensive oriented big, thrown in for minutes to completely change the tone of the game. He can muck it up, throw some hard fouls, and make life difficult for any type of star. Him being stuck in smaller, worse teams really hurt his national recognization. If I was a celtic fan, I would be very excited to get Mo, and I believe that this move was jumped over in basketball conversations. For this reason I believe Moe Wagner is a very underrated player
