The Dallas Mavericks trade Dwight Powell, Josh Richardson, Josh Green, a 2025 top 5 protected 1st round pick, and a 2022 unprotected 2nd round pick to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Victor Oladipo.

Mavs: One of their biggest issues this season has been defence. They don’t really have anyone on their roster that can give them consistent D. This trade would change that. Victor Oladipo would be a good fit on the roster with, and he could form a deadly backcourt tie with Luka. Oladipo is on an expiring contract, but I think that the Mavs can work out an extension with him. Getting an above average defender who is consistent on D and also provides a decent amount of offence would be a huge W for the Mavs. They do lose some depth, but I think it’s worth it to get some defence next to Luka.

Rockets: So, the Rockets have not been very competitive at all this season, and are currently sitting outside a playoff spot. If I’m the GM, I’m thinking that I should continue to get more value out of the Harden trade by trading Oladipo for more assets. I think this would be a good trade for them. They get a decent Center in Powell who has struggled since coming off of an injury, but still have some value. They also get a younger SF in Richardson, who could be a solid piece on this roster moving forward, a rookie guard who could end up being a solid rotation player for this team, and two picks. One a top 5 protected 1st, and the other an unprotected 2nd. This would be a W for the Rockets I think, as they add some younger pieces along with a decent trade piece in Powell. Trading the guy you just got may be tough, but I think it would be the smart thing to do.
