In this second episode, we will be focusing on the Atlanta Hawks, specifically their up and coming wing De'Andre Hunter. Hunter is a forward who played one year at the university of Virginia, before being picked by the Atlanta Hawks with the 4th pick in the 2018 draft. He was picked to be a purely 3 and d player, but he has the potential to become a lot more.

Let's start with his defense. Defense tends to be a calling card of the more underrated players in the league, as it doesn't show up in the stat sheet. He is the most versatile defender on the Hawks (which isn't saying much) and guards the best player night in and night out. He has all the physical tools to do this as well. Standing at 6'8, 225, he can muscle u with the big boys in the paint, or step out and guard the smaller dudes. He uses his quickness on defense very well, and loves to crash the boards with his athleticism. If any team is going to work with Trae Young they will NEED guys like De'Andre Hunter.

Next up is his shooting. While he was mainly looked at as a spot up shooter coming out of college, he has grown to become a lot more. Of course, being on the Hawks, he does spend a lot of time sitting in the corner waiting for Young to pass him the ball, but that is no fault of his own; simply the scheme of the team. And he hits threes at a solid clip, 35% for his career is very nice for someone with his size, age, and athleticism. However he has developed a POTENT mid range game in his second season, which helped him take a trememdous leap in the games he has played. In his first season, he took less than 20% of his shots in the midrange and hit them at a 40% clip. This year, he is taking around 25% of his shots there (with more unassisted) and is hitting them at over 50%! (per basketballreference.com) His entire developmental curve has shifted, from a Robert Covington to a poor mans Kawhi Leonard. Being able to create and defend at the wing position is HUGE, and not enough people realize this next step in his game.

You put the defense and the offense together and you have an uber valuable wing that can do it all. I believe that very soon people will recognize that Hunter (HOT TAKE ALERT) is the true second best player on the hawks, and that makes him a very underrated player.

Let me know who you want me to do for your team! Next up is the Boston Celtics!
